Tips On Storing Your Belongings

Choose the Appropriate Size Unit

Selecting a storage unit that fits your needs is crucial.

Clean Your Appliances

Before storing kitchen appliances, make sure to clean them thoroughly to eliminate odors and germs. This will ensure they are ready for use when you need them again.

Choose the Appropriate Packing Materials

Select sturdy cardboard boxes, moving blankets, and packing paper to ensure your belongings are safely stored in your storage unit. The boxes will facilitate convenient stacking and organization within your unit. Moving blankets offer protective cushioning for fragile items like mirrors, TVs, computers, and other large breakables that may not fit in a box. Additionally, use packing paper to wrap delicate items such as fine china and glassware, safeguarding them alongside other contents in the boxes.

Label Your Boxes

Clearly label your storage boxes so you can easily identify their contents.

Place Heavier Boxes on the Bottom

When arranging your belongings in the storage unit, position heavier boxes at the bottom and lighter ones on top.

Protect Items

Seal boxes to keep out moisture. Use plastic bags to seal electronics. Use wardrobe boxes or garment bags to hang clothing. Put clean mattresses inside of mattress storage bags.

Take Large Items Apart

Large items such as beds and tables may take up less space if they are first disassembled prior to putting into your storage unit.

Maintain an Inventory

Keep a current inventory of your stored belongings, and consider taking photos for easy reference.
